Representative Cases

Obtained a favorable verdict on behalf of defendant-driver in an admitted liability personal injury case involving a claim of brain injury, where plaintiff sought damages in excess of $7 million and the jury awarded under $15,000.

Successfully obtained pre-answer dismissal on behalf of landlord on a claim where plaintiff sought in excess of $500,000 in addition to punitive damages, arising out of a complex real estate dispute.

Won jury verdicts on behalf of defendant-drivers in disputed liability and damages personal injury matters.

Successfully obtained summary judgment on behalf of a company which held that the employer was not vicariously liable for a claim against an employee in a personal injury action.

Successfully obtained several dismissals with non-payment on behalf of clients during discovery without the necessity of motion practice.

Successfully represented author in case involving an extremely contentious breach of contract dispute. The case settled early in discovery on terms favorable to our client.

Obtained dismissal following limited discovery on behalf of an international manufacturer in complex commercial case involving breach of contract and warranty claims, seeking nearly $4 million in damages.

Defended a publishing company against breach of contract claims, obtaining a dismissal following a pre-Answer motion to dismiss.

Advised healthcare clients regarding matters subject to the Oregon Health Care Market Oversight Program.

Successfully represented client in real property dispute involving claims of fraud, undue influence, and elder abuse. The matter was settled with terms favorable to our client prior to the filing of a lawsuit.

Experience

Tania Manners has tried multiple cases to verdict in New York and Oregon courts. She started her legal career in 2004 as a prosecutor in the Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office in Monticello, New York. After practicing as a litigation associate at a healthcare law boutique and then an international law firm, she went on to serve as Associate Counsel and Chief Settlement Negotiator for the New York City Health & Hospitals Corporation, the largest municipal hospital and healthcare system in the country. While in this role, she supervised outside defense counsel and successfully negotiated and settled numerous high-exposure cases.

Upon moving to Oregon in 2014, Tania worked in-house as a senior contract negotiator for a major insurance company. Tania re-entered private practice in 2016 as a senior associate at a long-established Portland law firm. There, she represented legal professionals and insureds in complex litigation. Prior to joining LVK as a partner in 2022, she practiced at a boutique Portland litigation firm handling complex personal injury, casualty and property damage, toxic tort, coverage, and administrative law matters.
